AMDN Kebbi Condemns Brutal Killing of Member by Nigeria Customs Operatives

The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDN), Kebbi State Chapter, has expressed deep outrage following the reported killing of one of its members, Tukur Alhaji Salihu, allegedly at the hands of operatives of the Federal Operation Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B Kaduna, attached to Kebbi State.

According to reports, the incident has sent shockwaves through the local business community, with AMDN officials condemning what they described as a brutal and unwarranted act of violence. Salihu, a respected member of the motor dealers’ association, was reportedly confronted by customs operatives under circumstances that are yet to be fully clarified.

The association has demanded an immediate investigation into the matter, insisting that the officers responsible be held accountable in accordance with the law. AMDN’s leadership also called on relevant authorities to review operational procedures to prevent the recurrence of such tragic events, which not only disrupt business activities but also undermine public trust in law enforcement agencies. Community leaders and residents have voiced concerns about the growing tensions between law enforcement personnel and local business operators. The incident highlights broader issues surrounding enforcement tactics, the treatment of citizens, and the need for transparency and accountability within the Nigerian Customs Service.

At the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Customs Service has yet to issue a formal statement addressing the alleged killing. Meanwhile, AMDN Kebbi has urged state and federal authorities to intervene swiftly to ensure justice for Tukur Alhaji Salihu’s family.

Observers note that such incidents could have far-reaching consequences on trade and investment, as fear of violence discourages business activities in affected regions. The association has pledged to provide support to the victim’s family while pursuing legal and administrative remedies to prevent future occurrences.

The tragic death of Salihu underscores the urgent need for clear operational guidelines, community engagement, and adherence to human rights standards in the execution of law enforcement duties. As investigations continue, stakeholders stress the importance of restoring confidence between citizens and security agencies.
